The take your time option is a good idea. A slow fade would be a good idea i think.
I think forming my own opinions and theory's regarding where the WT is going with certain doctrines and being able to voice them here will be good for me. I hope my posting won't annoy any of you, as it might seem a bit "out there".
if you walked up to any jw and said "i just spoke to satan" they would think you lost your mind.

Right now i'm going to either ditch it all at once, and lose everything i love, or stick with it and have a strategy.

im not an attorney and i could not record the hearing, so please forgive me if i make mistakes in relating what i remember of the oral argument hearing for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society on january 14, 2015 and the length of this post.. i arrived at the civic center/union plaza in san francisco, ca about 7:30. the area is very nice with a few homeless people sleeping in the park across from the courthouse.
it took me about 10 minutes to find the clerks office for the court on the first floor, which opened at 8:00.. once the clerks office opened, the two clerks who i talked with were very polite and helpful.
the arguments for jane doe (i.e., candace conti) versus the watchtower bible & tract society were scheduled 5th out of (i think) 8. while i was in the office a cameraman and another person for nbc arrived asking about the hearing for candace contis case.. the courtroom for the 1st appellate court is on the 4th floor and takes up most of that floor.

where its stated: "it is logical, therefore, to conclude that genesis 6:3 expresses gods resolve to end the corrupt system of things on earth.
jehovah issued a judicial decree to do so in 120 years, though noah was not yet aware of that.
When does "soon" actually become "not so soon". Its been "soon" for 130 + years ffs
I also think they will downplay 144,000 teaching in the run up to 2034, starting first with with the removal of "partakers" from the year book in the next 5-7 years. Then after 2034 "nu lite" about 144,000 being symbolic.
Heck, they might even start teaching Jesus was a symbolic character, the gospels being one big metaphor. The way the WTS talk about him now is not far from that idea...
And yes, this would sound quite mad if an outsider is looking in is reading this, but those of us that are "inn", realize crazy ideas like these in JW land are not as crazy as they sound.

The year 2034 is calculated from 1914 (WT belief of the beginning of Christs presence) + 120 years mentioned in the article above.

This is a very tough situation, and every time i write a response, it sounds almost cocky and arrogant, so i delete it. So please don't take it that way. Its just my 2 cents.
Maybe go back, and say you found your faith and repent? But make them realize you are a busy person. Your dads an elder, so he would be more than happy to pull a few strings i would have thought.

Playing devils advocate here, but perhaps re-in-statement then fade could be an option? "technically" your in, and it sounds like your parents like technicalities...Don't know if this idea is endorsed on this site.

with hopefully a good deal of interest here in the conti appeal tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you are), i thought that on my ride home from work tonight i'd preview what to expect and what i think the key issues are for any who are interested.
i have had a busy few weeks and haven't had time to read everything, but i had some time to look at the appeal briefs during my work commute the past couple days.
it'll be interesting to see what develops out of the network news coverage of this case.
Given the fact recently that "Louche" was called to the stand but didn't turn up in a case not so dissimilar to this, shows that something is up. If the Judge is half decent he will be aware of this and could take it into consideration.
But as was mentioned, i wouldn't be surprised if WT wriggle out of this. If not partially.
i've always been a "spiritual" person.
i've been an avid bible reader since as early as i can remember.
i read the bible cover to cover for the first time when i was about 17 years old and have read it at least twice more since then.

I believe that faith has nothing to do with adherence to a holy book, be it the Greek scriptures the Talmud the Koran etc.
We have free choice (as the WT always says) to pick and choose what we like and believe.
If we have faith in nothing we cease to exist.
